Admittedly at 9-storeys high this proposed development in the Broadway is nowhere near the 25 and 26 storey towers proposed around West Ealing station. Even so, 9-storeys high continues the march of high rise buildings in the centre of West Ealing.
The plan is for 53 new homes in a development of 9, 4 and 3 storey buildings. These buildings replace part of a relatively new run of low rise shops that replaced the FH Rowse department store that closed in the 1980s. They continue the run of high rise buildings that start with SoResi on the old BHS site, next to which is the soon-to-be-demolished od Woolworth’s building which will rise up to 15 storeys and then the fairly recent developments with Wilko on the ground floor.
Along with the 53 homes will be commercial space on the ground floor. We shall have to wait and see whether some of the shops affected by this, such as Carphone Warehouse, return to this new retail space.
