If the Council’s plans go through then West Ealing library will become a community managed one. This means a local community group will need to take over running the library using volunteers. They will have some professional support from the borough’s professional library service , but all the day-to-day work will be carried out by volunteers. In addition, the community group will need to take on the day-to-day running costs once the initial set up grant has run out. So rates, utility costs, cleaning, insurance etc will all have to be paid for by space hire costs, fundraising and maybe some commercial activities such as running a bookshop.
