Ealing Council planned to sell Victoria Hall, one of the main halls in the Town Hall, to Mastcraft as part of a deal to turn part of the Town Hall in to an hotel. This plan has caused enormous controversy because the Victoria Hall was originally funded by public donations and so it was not the Council’s to sell.

After a considerable legal battle the Friends of Victoria Hall have just heard from the Charity Commission that the Council’s plans have been stopped and they will have to take a whole series of steps to address the Commission’s concerns if they still plan to go ahead.
