Approval for new flats
On 24 February 2016, Ealing Council Planning Committee approved the building of this residential tower block with a very high density of 1,385 habitable rooms per hectare. (The London Plan guidelines state a maximum of 700 habitable rooms per hectare for such a site). Another ‘feature’ of the new block will be the provision of 270 bike racks.
The current site owners are Thames Valley Housing Association. Previous site owners were Southern Grove of Mayfair, Sir Philip Green’s stepson Brett Palos and BHS. Demolition started in September 2017. With the neighbouring WLIC mosque being demolished at the same time it’s going to be a very dusty, and congested Autumn for local residents, business staff and visitors in West Ealing centre.
